Activity Notes:
Join an Action Group!
Noble Neighbors are working in a variety of small groups to make our neighborhood a better place. We'd love to have you join a group that is working on a project that interests you.
Beautification: This group hosted our first public event, Pick Up For Pride in June 2014. It attracted 50 residents who picked up litter and swept public sidewalks. The momentum they created was phenomenal! Read about it by clicking here. While litter pick-up continues to be a year-round Noble Neighbors' effort, the Beautification group has turned its focus to its four new public perennial gardens and public planters. Group members rotate to care for the gardens and meet as needed to plan future efforts. Beautification group members are also active in the community gardens in our neighborhood. Join this group if you'd like to help make our area more attractive!
City Council Attendance: One of our priorities is to have a presence at every City Council meeting. We listen for issues that impact our neighborhood and bring news back to our Noble Neighbors' meetings. Join this group if you'd like to be in the rotation of City Council meeting attendees.
Economic Development: FutureHeights is partnering with Noble Neighbors to study our three business districts - Noble Nela, Noble Monticello and Noble Warrensville Mayfield - to create an inventory of buildings and businesses. We want to support the businesses that are in these districts and attract more businesses that will help our community thrive.
Housing: We're identifying chronically blighted properties, working with the city to take appropriate action and tracking the progress on these. We also are partnering with the city to identify well maintained properties to nominate for the Community Awards.
Public Art: Art certainly creates a sense of place and identity. Read about one recent installation by clicking here. This group is making connections with artists and funders who can help us with installations. We're considering professional and student artwork, permanent and temporary installations, two- and three-dimensional works. Join this group to help move these ideas into installations.
Schools: A great strength of our neighborhood are our public schools: Monticello Middle School, Noble and Oxford elementary schools - all in the CHUH district, and Caledonia Elementary school in the East Cleveland School District. Noble Neighbors is connecting with the schools and with Reaching Heights to support our students with volunteer tutors, donations of school supplies and clothing, staffing PTA-led events, and other initiatives. Join this group to be a liaison between Noble Neighbors and our students.
Organizational Structure: Noble Neighbors began in one person's living room in January 2014. While we've grown exponentially and have accomplished tremendous things as a loose-knit group of volunteer residents, we need to consider our next step as an organization. If you'd like to be part of this conversation and transition, join us!
Grant Applications: Wonderfully, there are funders who are willing to support projects in the Noble area. This group is defining the projects and is applying for the resources we need to bring them to fruition. Join this group to help see projects move from ideas to reality.
