For our 2021 growers: Tomatoes, peppers, garlic and flowers have sold well in the past, in part because these are the dominant items in our market. Do grow other varieties of fruits and veggies - squash, beans, corn, carrots, tomatillos, potatoes, turnips, greens, eggplant, melons and more.
***COVID-19 Notes: Noble Gardeners' Market is registered with the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a farmer's market. We are subject to these laws and regulations. In late March 2020, the ODA sent us two communications responding to COVID-19. We have not yet received notice that the 2021 practices will be any different, but of course, this is a rapidly changing scenario. We're planning to comply with the 2020 recommendations until we learn otherwise. In short, buyers and sellers need to wear masks. Sellers need to find a way to handle produce and money separately. Many sellers last year used tongs to select produce, for example. More details are in the Recommendations linked below.
All sellers and buyers will need to comply with these recommendations.

Noble Gardeners' Market is, first and foremost, about building community. It's one more opportunity for neighbors who have a common interest to meet each other and work together to make our neighborhood more safe, friendly and attractive to everyone. Unlike the many farmers' markets in the area, this market invites neighbors who grow fruits, vegetables and flowers in their yards or in community gardens to sell their produce. Sellers from surrounding communities are welcome, as long as they are growing in backyards and community gardens.
The Market is from 10am-noon on Saturday mornings. Since none of the sellers are market farm gardeners, no one has enough produce to sell for a full day. Sellers love that concentrated period of time since it allows them to schedule other events on their Saturdays. More and more buyers are learning to arrive right at the beginning of each market day to make sure they can get their favorite fresh food and bouquets before they sell out!
2019 was our first full season, 10 weeks from late July to mid September. We gained momentum as the season unfolded and learned oh, so many things.
1. Most sellers did not sell every week, so in spite of having 19 different sellers over the course of the selling season, we never had more than 6 at a time. Since we are backyard growers and not folks trying to make a living at this, it makes sense that folks would not commit to 10 summer Saturday mornings. We need more sellers to spread the joy.
2. Buyers were very willing to support hyper local growers. It was so exciting to see the same people return every week. Even more exciting were the new faces as the regular customer spread the news.
3. Landscape plants sold well.
4. It was entirely possible to earn over $100 in two hours - that seller was well organized, ready to make change, and had a few crates of produce from his prolific backyard garden.
5. Most backyard growers did not have much to sell in July. It's just too early in the season. That's why we're waiting until August in 2020.
